The land on which the South West
Sydney Academy of Sport is located, and where our athletes train and compete is the traditional land of
the Dharawal people.
In paying our respects to their Elders past, present
and emerging, and with a spirit of reconciliation and recognition of the Traditional owners of Country,
the Academy is hosting a UAA Indigenous Talent Identification Day.
Tuesday 13 September 2022
Where: Minto Indoor Sports Centre, Minto
Time: 9:00am
- 1:00pm
Who: Ages 13-16 Male and Female Indigenous,
First Nation, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander persons from the South West Sydney Academy of
Sport Catchment areas, who live, attend school in or play sport in Camden, Campbelltown, Liverpool or
Wollondilly, the traditional land of the Dharawal people.
What:
Sport Talent Identification Day.
Athletes will undergo sport science
testing with Western Sydney University practitioners, as well as undertake sport skills sessions in various
sports that the South West Sydney Academy of Sport services.
Cost: There is no cost to attend this day for Indigenous students. Athletes
will receive lunch and a t-shirt recognising their attendance.
How
to be involved: We are seeking the support of school sports teacher or school Indigenous
Liaison Officer's to nominated interested students using the form available at swsas.org.au/indigenous.
