Academy Games Hockey

SWSAS is proudly partnering with Club Menangle to deliver the full Academy Games experience to our regions U18 Male & Female Hockey players.

We are seeking expressions of interest from registered Hockey athletes born 2002-2005 that are not part of the Hockey NSW AAP program

The SWSAS program is a link on the established Hockey NSW pathway and through our lead coaches Nathanael Stewart and Nicole King, we are acutely aware of the attributes required for hockey athletes to progress on this pathway. Our focus is; equipping athletes with the required skillset, enabling transition into State Programs and Senior Representative Hockey.

This tournament opportunity will include a 6 week development program commencing February 17th. All 6 sessions will be Monday nights 630-830pm with a confirmed schedule available February 10th.

The 3 day Academy Games camp will feature very competitive match play v's Academy squads from every region of NSW; as well as skill development and athlete development opportunities hosted by Hockey NSW.

All transport, meals, accomodation,uniform and tournament entries will be provided for our squads

• Athletes must be between 15 and 18 years of age in 2020, born 2002-2005.

• Athletes will reside, attend school or compete for a sporting club within the defined local government areas of the Regional Academy zones serviced by SWSAS, WSAS or SESA. (In certain circumstances SWSAS may be able to consider nominations from athletes residing outside this zone)

• Athletes must be committed to progressing to higher representation within the sport of hockey

• Athletes must be committed to attending all coaching/training sessions. We understand that from time to time athletes may be unable to attend sessions due to illness, holiday commitments or competing at a higher level within school sport etc. Prior arrangement must be sort and approved from SWSAS to be absent from any session.

• Athletes must be a member of a Hockey NSW registered hockey club

• Athletes must NOT be a scholarship holder in Hockey NSW AAP.

Cost

Generous support from Club Menangle is enabling the large subsidies provided for this opportunity.

An all inclusive Athlete Levy of $160 will apply to all players. This includes the provision of an Academy dress polo, hoodie, socks, shorts, singlet and hat.
