The South West Sydney Academy of Sport's Softball Program provides high performance training opportunities for talented young athletes in the south west Sydney region. In partnership with Softball NSW, the program provides opportunities for athletes in the areas of technical skill, education and personal development, preparing athletes for the next level of elite sport representation.
To be eligible for the Academy Sotball Program, athletes must be:
Born in 2003, 2002 and 2001 Athletes turning age 15, 16 and 17 in 2018.
All athletes nominating for an Academy scholarship must reside within the defined Council Local Government boundaries of Campbelltown, Camden, Liverpool, and Wollondilly.
Note Athletes that do not reside within these Local Government boundaries but attend school or compete for an affiliate sporting club within these boundaries, may be considered for selection subject to special consideration by the Academy.
Athletes nominations must be submitted on the authorised nomination form and received recognising the identified closing date.
Scholarships are not in the form of a monetary sum, but rather enable athletes to participate in the Academy program which includes sports specific training workshops, camps and competition opportunities. These workshops include access to elite level coaches, analysis of technique, sports science testing, sport psychology, nutrition, and drugs in sport awareness.
The program will have a heavy off-season focus. Training sessions will be held throughout the Academy region, with the possibility of games scheduled against squads representing other NSW Regional Academies, selected major events and participation in the Hunter Region NIB Games.
