- Q: Program Overview
The Wests Future Stars Athlete and Para-Sport Athlete Program aims to provide local junior elite or pre-elite level athletes and para-sport athletes with athlete education, skill and personal development sessions, high level coaching and cross sport coaching, sports science support services, media, profile development and invitations to high profile local Academy events. And, where available, access to squad activities conducted by other NSW Regional Academies of Sport, on a fostering basis.
Individual programs will vary in accordance to the ranking of the athlete and the classification of the sport.
- Q: Athlete Benefits
The Wests Future Stars Athlete and Para-Sport Athlete program aims at benefiting individual athletes with the opportunity to access a range of different services that the Academy provides for its athletes, including, but not limited to, athlete education, skill and personal development sessions and high level coaching.
The Academy, may also be able to link Wests Future Star Athletes and Para-Sport Athletes with squad activities conducted by other NSW Regional Academies of Sport, on a fostering basis
On top of this, the Academy will also offer the athlete's personal coach the opportunity to continue to oversee their athlete as part of the Academy´s coaching staff, and also be provided the opportunity to undertake the Academy´s coaches education program at the same time.
The primary goal of the Wests Future Stars Para Sports Program is to support and enhance the athlete's current training program and as a result we aim to provide athletes with up to date coaching resources, sports education programs, expert coaching advice and the opportunity to participate in all Academy functions. Likewise, the program aims to support the athlete's coaching and support staff through the Academy Coaches Education program, with a view to provide them with opportunities for ongoing personal development.
- Q: Selection Process
The Wests Future Stars Athlete and Para-Sport Athlete Program caters for individual junior elite or pre-elite level athletes and para-sport athletes, between 14-20 years of age, who either reside, or go to school, or play sport in the Campbelltown, Camden, Liverpool, or Wollondilly local government areas.
The program is aimed at athletes involved in sports of an individual nature such as swimming, archery, cycling etc. Individual athletes from team sports not currently offered by the Academy are also invited to apply.
