 Lawrence Appointed Captain of State Team

South West Sydney Academy of Sport’s own Brooke Lawrence will lead the NSW 19/U Netball Team as Captain this week at the National Championships. Brooke will show the way as they take on up-and-coming netball talent from around the country at the 2013 19/U National Netball Championships in Darwin which started on Monday 8th and concludes on Saturday 13 April, 2013.

Lawrence, originally from Harrington Park, heads into the Championships with plenty of on-court Nationals experience, having run out with the NSW 17/U Team when they finished Runners-Up in the 2011 tournament. The defender has also tasted Championship glory, playing with the Manly-Warringah Waratah Cup side for the last three seasons, including being crowned the 2011 DOOLEYS State League Waratah Cup Champions.

2012 National Volunteer Award Recognition
 
 
The efforts of all of our hard working Academy volunteers has been recognised as part of the Macarthur
‘2012 National Volunteer Awards’ by friend of the Academy, Federal Member for Macarthur Russell Matheson.
 
 
Matheson congratulated all associated with the Academy for the quality of service our great volunteers provide,
including the doubling of the size of the Academy over the past 4 years and the continued successes of our
local athletes on the national and international sporting stage.
 
 
“You are to be congratulated as a highly skilled hardworking group and as individuals for your dedication
towards the successes of others,” Matheson said.
