'Sporting Spirit Award' goes to Academy Triathlete

Written on the 10 December 2018

Macarthur Triathlon Club member and past South West Sydney Academy of Sport, Cody Turner was named the Macarthur Chronicle Sporting Spirit recipient.

In 2017, the 17-year old was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, a disorder affecting the electrical system of the heart. And in January he was struck by appendicitis and needed surgery.

But it didn't prevent him from claiming an outstanding 22nd at the recent World Triathlon Championships on the Gold Coast.

The Academy congratulates ClubsNSW in instigating the News Local - 'Your Local Club' awards and its ongoing support of NSW Regional Academies of Sport.
