Building Success Through Local Community Sports

The latest edition of the Endeavor Homes South West Sydney Academy of Sport Golf Day took place in late-November, with eighteen teams painting a vibrant scene of community collaboration, and skilful swings, nestled against the picturesque backdrops of the Campbelltown Golf Club.

This annual event serves as a crucial opportunity to honour and bolster the partnerships that underpin the South West Sydney Academy of Sport and its delivery of programs to young sporting talent in the Campbelltown, Camden, Wollondilly and Liverpool council areas. The day providing not only the Academy the opportunity to express gratitude and strengthen relationships with its partners, but also provide the opportunity for the local sporting communities' corporate golfers to network on, and probably more passionately, off the course.

Endeavor Homes, as the major partner, played a pivotal role in making this day a reality. Their commitment was complemented by the kind support of Silver partner SVSR Mini Crane Hire, and Bronze partners Aceit Sport, FitClinic and the Campbelltown Golf Club.

Before teeing-off, all participants were treated to a delightful breakfast. Along with a mild warm-up and stretching session led by Academy strength and conditioning partner FitClinic, set the tone for the day ahead.

The competitive spirit amongst the four-ball Ambrose teams was palpable throughout the day, evident not only in the exciting contests and close results that ensued, but also within the tales of near misses, and ‘what could have been’ discussed during the corporate luncheon.

Wollondilly Shire Council took a step further than their runners-up place at the 2022 Golf Day, clinched the top spot on Handicap, closely followed by South32 Illawarra Metallurgical Coal – Appin. Scratch Winners saw Campbelltown Golf Club and Wests Group Macarthur – Team A finishing tied same score, with the Campbelltown Golf Club securing the honours through a ‘final six hole countback', showcasing their remarkable skills on the course, as well as a little local knowledge.

Beyond the main events, the "Lots of Alternate Sports to Try" (L.A.S.T) segment added an intriguing layer to the day, with major partners Endeavor Homes – The Commander Team emerged victorious, sent home with a cricket bat and AFL ball.

Individual excellence was also celebrated with Phil Higgins claiming the Nearest the Pin award and David Tasker demonstrating a formidable drive to win the Fastlane Karting Longest Drive accolade.

The highlight of the event, was the battle for the Endeavour Homes Team Challenge, contested between the two Endeavor Homes teams. Led by Owner and Managing Director Luke Ferguson,  Endeavour Homes – The Sovereign team emerged victorious, emphasising the strategic play between the two teams throughout the challenge, made all the more exciting given Ferguson's two younger brothers, and work colleagues lined up for Endeavor Homes – The Commander.

Events such as the Academy Golf day continue to serve testament to the collaborative spirit and shared commitment to the growth of sport within the local community, and underscored the Academy's dedication to fostering partnerships that extend beyond the greens. In turn reinforcing the belief that sport serves as a unifying force, nurturing camaraderie and mutual support.

As the day drew to a close, participants departed with cherished memories, strengthened partnerships, and a renewed commitment to advancing sports within our community, and all looking forward to the next edition to be held in 2024.
