Natalie keen to represent state

Written on the 28 February 2018 by The Camden Advertiser

It's not the hours you put in it's what you put into the hours. Netballer Natalie Sligar is living proof of that.

The St Patrick's College Campbelltown student has just been picked to represent NSW the highest level possible for her age after five days of gruelling trials.

She will compete as part of the NSW U/17 team in April, taking on some of the best rising stars in Australia.

And, helping her on her way with a $500 prize, the Campbelltown Catholic Club has named her the latest winner of its monthly Sports Hot Shot award. Natalie thanked the Club for its support.

"The money will certainly come in handy with flights to Adelaide, shoes, equipment, etc," she said.

Her proud mum Julie says, "Natalie sets high standards for herself on and off the court, in turn motivating her teammates".

"She attends training three times a week and works on her fitness and goal shooting skills every day," Julie said.

"She displays grace, determination, persistence and passion."

Natalie is also a netball umpire and the coach of an Under 8 Net Set Go team at Camden and District Netball Association.

Apart from her state team selection, her 2017 achievements include being Camden Netball Association Under 15 representative team captain, selection into the South West Sydney Academy of Sport netball program and recipient of the SWSAS Netball Athlete of the Year Award.

Her twin sister Amy is just as talented on the court and was part of an Australian U/15 netball team last year.

The sisters hope to play netball professionally one day.
