Come out Swinging at Academy Golf Day

Written on the 15 March 2019

Tee-off at the picturesque Campbelltown Golf Course and help the South West Sydney Academy of Sport assist in the development of our region's very own local junior athletes, representing 14 varied sports.

In 2018, over 20 local businesses came together for what was an amazing fun-filled day of golf and networking in support of this great cause, and it is happening again!

The Academy is a not-for-profit organisation that supports the development of athletes representing the Camden, Campbelltown, Liverpool and Wollondilly regions, as they take their individual sporting career to the next level.

The Academy holds a golf day each year to help raise much-needed funds for these fine young athletes, so they can be provided with the very best opportunities to succeed, in their chosen sport.

With an ever-increasing number, and such a diverse range of sports currently being serviced by the Academy, the support from local sponsors is critical and fund-raising days like this, is where each dollar raised, really counts.

Early registrations have been fantastic, and the Academy is expecting this year's event to be bigger and better than ever.

Academy sponsor, the  Campbelltown Golf Club is hosting the event on the 24th May, with an 8.00am tee-off and lunch to be provided within the club.

The event's coordinator Samantha Scholte said, it was great to see local businesses come together on the day and support the Academy's athletes, as they are our sporting future and we need to provide them with the best opportunities to succeed.

Local businesses that wish to support the event but cannot make the day, are still able to help by sponsoring a hole, donating an auction or raffle prize, as every donation big or small, makes a huge impact.

Shorrocks Human Movement and Rehabilitation Services is the naming rights sponsor of the day. And, Metal4U, Campbelltown Catholic Club, Wests Group Macarthur, Event Cinemas, Jones Partners, Marsden's Law Group, NSW Rugby League, AEI Group, and Club Menangle are just some of last year's returning teams.

In 2018, Academy athletes benefitted from over $5,000 raised, to support new uniforms, equipment, special education sessions and training camps.

Golf day participants will play an Ambrose competition with nett and scratch team winners, as well as longest drive, nearest to pin and fun competitions.

Scholte said, it will be a fun day, filled with networking opportunities and lots of laughs and stressed that hole sponsors and prize donations are a critical part of the day and if you are able to help, please reach out.

Players of all abilities are welcome to join the day and beginners will be coached by our supportive Academy golf athletes.

If you would like to join the Academy on the day, sponsor a hole or donate a prize, please contact the Event Coordinator, Samantha Scholte on Samantha.scholte@swsas.org.au or p: 4627 7622.
